I agree with you, however it’s more complicated than a this-or-that solution because everything is connected. In general, greater economic opportunities means more access to education, more opportunities to travel and mix with more diverse cultures, and more appreciation for such. Perhaps racism is at the root of it, but I believe it all comes down to the “cookie scenario,” where the wealthy horde 99 cookies, give 1 to the working class and tell them to watch out because “those people” are trying to steal it. I don’t have the stats but my assumption is the vast majority of racism is from rural lower middle class white Americans who are economically oppressed, and require a scapegoat/bogeyman for their issues. Just like the Jews in WWII, here it’s people of color.
